Parents: Is your children involved in alot or a couple activities/sports?
We are in a few different activites..
we go to Awana (at church) Wednesday evenings only from Sept-May
My boys were in soccer this year..it was only 2 months long in Aug-Sept on saturday mornings

my oldest-4 years old I think wants to play tee ball this year..only a couple of months..and I think he wants to go to JAM (Jesus and Me) camp but its only 1 week and from 9-3pm…

I like being an involved mommy..I go and help in everything they do..

Is your children involved in activities/sports?

my 3 oldest are in wildcats, although my odlest daughter wont be doing it this year. apperently it isnt cool anymore lol. my oldest 2 girls were in cheerleading. and my son was in basketball but that didnt turn out so well. we tried church camp, but i cant afford it for all of my kdis. theres not really alot around here for my 4 year old that doesnt cost an arm and a legt for some reason. i didnt know anyone still had awana. i was in that when i was younger. i loved it. that is a great place for kids to be.

They bowled last summer and might again this summer. They are 7 &5. My eldest went more then my middle son; he was into it more I guess. They are in CCD once a week during the school year, but that’s a requirement for first communion. I got them started on a free trial at karate school but my eldest has decided, after 3 classes, he doesn’t want to go anymore. If my middle boy still wants to go, I’ll be taking him. My hubby and I put more emphasis on academics then activities. We decided long ago that activities would depend on keeping up with good school work; bad grades mean no activity.
RAVEN | Feb 05, 2010

Unfortunatly in our area there are not enough kids getting involved that many activities/sports/etc
are not being held. I mean just last year alone we signed my daughter up for jazz dance lessons and it got cancelled as there were not enough students, then we went for girl guides and it lasted for 2 weeks then she would have had to drive 45 minutes to another girl guide branch to attend because our area did not have enough girls. It really is sad.
However, my daughter joined a science club held after school in the library called "curiosity club" which is held every monday from 3-30 -4-30. Then she attends sunday school at her grandparents church and is involved in their kids club and attends some activities they hold. In the summer we keep her quite active as we have a swimming pool and jungle gym in our backyard. We go bowling, golfing and to the beach, But i would like to get her more involved in outside activities, hoping for a better outcome this year.
Happy mommy | Feb 05, 2010

We don’t really do anything all that much, my children are quite young. My eldest recently turned four and she is wanting to start playing soccer (apart from just in the backyard with her father) so we will get her into that. She also has learned to play some basic chords on guitar with my help.

Both of my daughters (the other is four months) both take swimming lessons, although for my four month old this just means getting used to the water. Being Australian I believe everyone should know how to swim.

How to cope with overshadowing?
When I was a kid I was bossed around a lot by my parents. But as my early teenage years passed, I decided to earn some respect. I stood up to my parents, using flawless logic every time I was bossed, punished, or otherwise condescended. I earned my place. I was treated as an adult and and an equal. but as my younger sister got older, she learned to mimic my devil-may-care attitude towards my parents. And guess what happened? I was overshadowed as quickly as that. She became the pride of the family. She earned student of the year last year, and my mom would tell it to everyone who would hear it. I would stand there quietly and murmur that her graduating class has 200 people, and that I had just wont a special merit in a national art competition and had my art sent to the capitol. That happened about 9 months ago, and it’s just gotten worse.

My sister is a star athlete at our school. I’m the best artist in the school. My sister has had only one B in her entire life, yet only "Meets" on important tests. My class grades are average, but my test scores are superior. My sister’s president of her Freshmen class. I’m president of the art club. My sister just won a big soccer game. I just aced my violin auditions and was accepted into Regionals. We’re the best of two opposite worlds. But my parents don’t appreciate my accomplishments. My mom has been to every single one of my sister’s games, even out of state. In my past 3 high school years, my mom has never gone to a a violin recital, she’s never even heard me play violin. She’s never asked to. One day I enlightened her with this fact. She then said "I’ll go to your next one." I told her not to bother, I’m not going to force her to go out of pity. I have started to refuse to eat dinner with my family because they talk of little else but my younger sister. If that was’t bad enough, my family role diminishing is starting to make my family to treat me like a doormat like when I was young. Of course I don’t allow it. But whatever complaints I make go right in one ear and out the other. I’m under appreciated. I’m the only one of my sisters that has anything close to a job, and the only one with a license. Therefore I have to drive them anywhere at the drop of a hat, and I have to pay for my own gas money.. I don’t know how to change things. I’m tired of this social hierarchy within a *family*. I don’t want to resort of isolating myself from my family, but I don’t know how to make them appreciate me..
If you came here to undermine my problems. then don’t bother writing at all. I asked for advice, not for someone to come tell me my problems "aren’t that bad". I’m not some goody-two-shoes attention-seeking prat. I’m just trying to find a way to make my parents realize how their treating me. But I guess if you’re thick enough to tell me to suck it up without ever living a day in my life, then you wont listen to me anyways.

So what exactly are you asking? This is one long ass fucking question.
Lolcats | Feb 03, 2010

you cant really force people to like or appreciate you. you just gotta suck it up and who cares. if your parents dont really recongize your accomplishments, talk to your sister and explain the situation. she probably realizes the situation and maybe she doesnt like who she recieves all the attention. have a family meeting and talk it all over together.
just.me. | Feb 03, 2010

why not just talk with them? the road goes 2 ways.. maybe they might feel unappreciated too.
a fool proof plan: just give them (sincere) compliments everyday. It may not do much at first, but they’ll soften up.

Well, your parents don’t seem to appreciate you. I suggest going to a Guidance counselor. Please do confront your parents. Oh God, I sound like an advice robot…..:|]….acckk…Don’t mind me.
Well tell them what’s been going on. Does your sister care for you at all. Maybe she could convince your parents to come to a recital and see some of your artwork. Don’t try to do better, because you’re trying to be someone you’re not. Your parents will regret this when you become a performer or a world renowned artist. It will be their fault in the end.
Try talking to your parents AGAIN. If they don’t see how great you are they are crazy. Maybe write a letter. That might work, or an email.
Don’t worry about what your parents think, if this has been going on you should ignore it and be yourself. Just focus on what YOU think is best and just FOCUS in general. If you’re a senior you’re almost an adult then you could get away. Prove them wrong? I don’t know. Your parents are crazy
You sound like a perfect child, wayyy better than me

I hope I helped you in some way. if you have anymore questions plz email me at  volleyballwinnergrl398 at gmail.com (please delete this after? i don’t know…..oh well its one i don’t use often….dont care if random people email me…were all normal and safe right? :P)

Unfortunately, there isn’t anything to do. Parents are parents, and as children we have little choice in what they say or do.

You will probably have to push through school dealing with these issues, and leave once you are able to be independent.

It’s too bad that your family does not give you the respect that you deserve, and I hope that things improve.

I am lost on the show Fringe, about the latest episode that aired Jan. 11, 2010?
On Fringe Special Agent Charlie Francis, was killed earlier in season two by a shapeshifter, so that the shape shifter could assume his shape. Once Olivia found out a few shows back she shot and killed the impostor Agent Francis. But now I am confused, because in the latest episode "Unearthed" Agent Francis is there. I know that the shape shifter put Agent Charlie in the furnace to dispose of the body. Does any one know what I missed??

You didn’t miss anything. The episode Unearthed is an unaired episode from season 1. It was meant to be the 21st episode, but they only decided to air it now that’s why there was Fringe on Monday instead of the usual Thursdays.

Sara M | Jan 14, 2010

That was a "lost episode" ie an episode that was supposed to be aired a while back but for whatever reason got cut. I had the exact same thought when I saw it and I definitely feel like Fox couldve done a much better job letting everyone know that.

Hope I helped.

Hope you enjoyed it! And for answering by question at the start!

haha I *hate* when people delete name game questions! Why??
I like Bianca Naomi Gabrielle! Bianca is a very pretty name, feminine and ages well. The only reason I don’t like it too much is because I’ve known a few Biancas so I guess the name has lost its "freshness" to me… Naomi is quite beautiful and soft, and selfishnes aside it sounds a lot like my own name haha. Gabrielle is a much cuter alternative to Gabriella, which, in my opinion, is just a tad bit too girly and long. I would change the order to Naomi Bianca Gabrielle. And your choice is my second favorite.

Now on to the game!

1. a. North Carolina (U.S.) / b. Romeo? / c. something child-related. Occupational Therapy or Early Childhood, maybe / d. UNC

2. e. Israel (I miss my home…) / f. honeymoon in Europe and the Caribbeans (yes we are THAT rich)

3. g. I don’t have a brother so I’ll go with my cousin Roy (pronounced like roe-EE). h. Lyla Rolee (roe-LEE)

4. i. Skye Alessandra / j. Ivy Aurelia (au-REH-lee-uh)

5. Maybe Leo and Cleo? Like Cleopatra? k. Leo Soren / l. Cleo Sienna

6. m. Spain! Third house if I had to pick out of those (p)

7. r. Jelly the little black puppy lab
 http://www.chrisabraham.com/black-lab-pu ppy-face-thumb.jpg
 http://www.tycom.net/Classified/BlackLab .jpg (:
s. Daniel Peter (Daniel was my neighbor/friend and is also my grandpa’s name, Peter is after my best childhood friend, Petra)

8. These aren’t necessarily my favorite names, just combinations of names that I like and that I think would go with the rest of the children:
t. Liam Davis
u. Chase Michael (Michael after my other grandpa)
v. Weston Blake
w. Venice Marie (after my grandma Mary)
x. Dylan James (James after another family member)
y. Noelle Rosaleen

9.
Lyla Rolee (Lala)
Skye Alessandra (Lessy)
Ivy Aurelia (VV?)
Leo Soren (Lion?)
Cleo Sienna- goes by Sienna (Patra, as in Cleopatra)
Daniel Peter (Danny)
Liam Davis (Lilo?)
Chase Michael (Chasy)
Weston Blake (West)
Venice Marie (Talia, like Italia)
Dylan James (Dyl)
Noelle Rosaleen (Noey)

..Sorry I’m pretty bad with nicknames. So we got Lyla, Skye, Ivy, Leo, Sienna, Daniel, Liam, Chase, Weston, Venice, Dylan and Noelle (:

What are the top 10 movie sequels of all time?
I’ve seen a dozen lists and don’t agree with any of them. For my money here’s mine:

1. The Dark Knight
2. The Godfather Pt. II
3. Aliens
4. Terminator 2: Judgment Day
5. Kill Bill Vol. 2
6. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
7. Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (I’ll probably catch some flak for this but I like Jedi better than Empire. Sue me!
8. Die Hard With A Vengeance
9. Spiderman 2
10. National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets

Honorable mentions: The Matrix Reloaded, Once Upon A Time In Mexico, Back to the Future Part 2

Now keep in mind, I haven’t seen Toy Story 2, and I have only watched the Lord of the Rings movies one time each. Definitely not enough to make an educated decision. So there ya go. Thoughts?

This is just my own opinion.

1. Lord of the Rings: Twin Towers and Return of the King
2. Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
3. The Godfather 2
4. Die Hard 2
5. Matrix Reloaded
6. Terminator 2: Judgment Day
7. X Men United
8. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

To have fun and raise money the children in our neighborhood have a circus every Summer. For weeks before the event post signs on every telephone pole announcing the date and time of the show. Everyone in the neighborhood looks forward to everybody crowds into the Nelson’ big garage. Which has been transformed into a "big top" Small people in clown suits pass out snacks. Like Kool-Aid and pretzels. The circus always includes a fortune-teller. Who sits at a covered table and kicks her hidden assistant, telling him how many times to flash a light into her "crystal ball" "Wild animals," of course, are part of the circus. The local cats and dogs patiently sit in cages, wearing signs saying they are " Rare Siberian Tigers" and "Fierce wolves." Somebody’s dad usually volunteers to be the "hairy wild man" Jumping around in a wig and pounding his chest. The comedy show is always hilarious. Imagine a bunch of five-and six-year old comedians. Forgetting punch lines and sometimes entire jokes. After the show everyone, applauses and hugs and kisses the performers. And looks forward to next year’s circus.

your need to break it up into a few paragraphs. Have more of a theme and climax.

Food, Inc.

Food, Inc.
Food, Inc. (2008)

IMDB rating: 8.00

Plot: The current method of raw food production is largely a response to the growth of the fast food industry since the 1950s. The production of food overall has more drastically changed since that time than the several thousand years prior. Controlled primarily by a handful of multinational corporations, the global food production business - with an emphasis on the business - has as its unwritten goals production of large quantities of food at low direct inputs (most often subsidized) resulting in enormous profits, which in turn results in greater control of the global supply of food sources within these few companies. Health and safety (of the food itself, of the animals produced themselves, of the workers on the assembly lines, and of the consumers actually eating the food) are often overlooked by the companies, and are often overlooked by government in an effort to provide cheap food regardless of these negative consequences. Many of the changes are based on advancements in science and technology, but often have negative side effects. The answer that the companies have come up with is to throw more science at the problems to bandage the issues but not the root causes. The global food supply may be in crisis with lack of biodiversity, but can be changed on the demand side of the equation.

Should I see the movie Food Inc.?
I don’t like seeing animals suffer. Does this movie show disturbing images?

yes, you should see it. and no, there are not many images depicting animals suffering because the film crews were not allowed into those areas…there are some chickens getting slaughtered the old fashioned way and some pics of cows being shoved into pens with forklifts (there’s a bit more but I cant remember). but it is not as graphic as I thought it would be. You should really watch it..its good to know the truth because it’s we the consumers that can make it change! spread the word!
